EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a fast, effective treatment that works with memories of past or recent events. After taking part in this therapy, our emotions settle down, our thoughts get more reasonable, and we become more at peace with ourselves, others, and the world around us. How many sessions will be required will be based on the type of problem, personal circumstances and the degree of the trauma. EMDR may be used within a standard “talking” therapy, as an adjunctive therapy with a separate therapist, or as a treatment all by itself.
